Not much, but a small amount is helpful.
- Credit cards are widely accepted. Visa and Mastercard work almost everywhere.
- Contactless payments and Apple/Google Pay are commonly accepted in restaurants, taxis, and major stores.
- Uber and Bolt operate in Lisbon, and rides can be paid through the app. Standard taxis often accept cards, but it's helpful to confirm before the ride.
When cash is useful:
- Smaller neighborhood cafés or bakeries
- Street food vendors
- Local markets
- Small tips (10% is common)
Carrying the equivalent of €30–50 EUR is more than sufficient for convenience.
