Atlas Trade AI, a self-directed automated trading technology platform, is now available on the Alpaca Connect Marketplace.
Through its integration with Alpaca’s OAuth2 and Trading API, Atlas Trade AI users can connect an eligible Alpaca brokerage account, select algorithmic strategies, configure available settings, and automate order transmission according to the strategy and parameters they choose, all while their assets remain within their Alpaca account.
Automated trading involves substantial risk and is not suitable for all investors. Once a strategy is activated, orders are transmitted without individual review, and the strategy continues to operate as market conditions change. Risk controls, including stop-loss instructions, position limits, and drawdown parameters, cannot guarantee a maximum loss or protect against loss.
Atlas Trade AI is a technology platform and is not a registered broker-dealer or investment adviser.
Engineering automated strategy execution
Automated trading technology has become increasingly accessible to individual traders. But broader access to automation does not necessarily mean users understand it better.
For users evaluating algorithmic trading platforms, important questions remain. Where are their assets held? What is the strategy actually designed to do? What happens after automation is activated? What controls can be changed? And how can the connection be stopped?
Atlas Trade AI set out to answer those questions with the view that sophisticated technology should not require the user to surrender visibility into how that technology operates.
Rather than centering the experience around a single algorithm, Atlas Trade AI designed a platform where users can review available strategies, understand important elements of their logic, configure applicable settings, and decide whether automation should be activated.
On the platform, users can independently select their brokerage account, strategy, allocation, and available trading controls. Once a strategy is activated, Atlas Trade AI can automatically generate and transmit order instructions based on the selected strategy and settings without requiring the user to manually place each trade.
Automation does not eliminate trading risk, nor does it improve the performance of any strategy. Atlas Trade AI does not determine which strategy, allocation, or risk configuration is appropriate for an individual user. The platform is designed to provide technology and controls around a self-directed decision.
Inside the Atlas Trade AI platform
Evaluate a strategy before switching it on
Atlas Trade AI develops its algorithms in-house using Oculus Algorithms, the company’s AI-assisted strategy development technology. Rather than presenting each algorithm only as a name or historical performance chart, Atlas Trade AI provides users with information intended to help them evaluate the strategy.
Depending on the strategy, this can include the market or sector it is designed to operate within, the technical conditions incorporated into its logic, its entry and exit framework, historical testing information, and other characteristics relevant to how the strategy operates.

Users can also review detailed trading activity after activation, creating a clearer relationship between the underlying strategy logic and the orders generated by the system.
The objective is not to suggest that understanding an algorithm removes its risk. Instead, Atlas Trade AI is built around the principle that a user should be able to understand substantially more about the technology operating within their account than whether its historical results went up or down.
Historical, simulated, and backtested performance has material limitations and does not predict how a strategy will perform in live markets. Past performance is not indicative of future results.AI-assisted tools may produce incomplete or inaccurate outputs and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any investment decision.
Configurable controls around automated trading
Atlas Trade AI understands that automation also raises a separate issue where a strategy may operate continuously once activated, even as market conditions change. Therefore, the platform places user-configurable trading parameters alongside the underlying strategy. Available functionality can include settings relating to strategy allocation, position limits, risk per trade, stop-loss instructions, trailing stops, daily drawdown parameters, and other supported controls.

Those parameters act as instructions, not guarantees. Stops, drawdown limits, and other automated controls depend on market conditions, liquidity, data availability, order acceptance, and execution. Volatile markets, price gaps, slippage, rejected orders, partial fills, and connectivity issues can all produce outcomes that differ from a configured threshold.
Users remain responsible for monitoring their connected brokerage accounts and the automation they choose to activate.
The brokerage infrastructure behind Atlas Trade AI
The integration reflects a clear division of responsibilities between Atlas Trade AI and Alpaca, with each layer handling one part of the process:
- The strategy supplies predefined quantitative rules developed by Oculus Algorithms
- Atlas Trade AI applies the user's chosen configuration and generates eligible order instructions
- Alpaca maintains eligible brokerage accounts and provides related custody, clearing, and execution services, subject to applicable customer agreements.
- The user decides whether to connect, activate, pause, or disconnect
No single layer controls the whole process, and the user decides at every stage whether the technology should run. Together, those layers illustrate a broader direction in financial technology where specialized systems can perform different functions without requiring one company to control every part of the trading experience.

Why Alpaca
Atlas Trade AI chose Alpaca because automation requires connectivity that accepts programmatically generated orders, account data that can be surfaced in the application, and authorization infrastructure designed for third-party applications.

Through Alpaca Connect, Atlas Trade AI users can authorize the third-party application to access their existing Alpaca brokerage account using OAuth.
Through this integration, Alpaca provides:
- Brokerage accounts
- Custody of the customer’s assets
- Market data
- Order acceptance, routing, and execution
- Access to supported assets through Alpaca's APIs
Atlas Trade AI builds on those services by providing the strategy library, strategy visibility, automation engine, configurable controls, and monitoring interface. Customer brokerage accounts, custody of assets, and brokerage execution services remain with Alpaca, subject to applicable agreements.
Atlas Trade AI independently operates its technology platform.
"We think the next generation of automated trading should be judged by more than the sophistication of an algorithm," said Michael Carlson, Founder and CEO of Atlas Trade AI. "Users should understand where their assets are held, what their strategy is designed to do, what controls they have, and how to stop the technology if they choose. Alpaca gives us an API-first brokerage infrastructure that fits naturally with that philosophy."
Connecting an eligible Alpaca account to Atlas Trade AI does not transfer assets. The user authorizes the application through Alpaca Connect using OAuth, which grants Atlas Trade AI permission to access authorized account information and transmit order instructions. Atlas Trade AI is an independent third-party application. It is not the user's brokerage or custodian, does not execute orders, and is not authorized to withdraw or transfer assets through the permissions described for this integration. Users can stop Atlas Trade AI automation and revoke the connection at any time without moving assets.
