Lemon, one of Latin America's (LATAM) leading crypto and digital finance platforms, recently launched US stock investing in Argentina and Perú, giving its users access to more than 10,000 US-listed companies, ETFs, indices, and thematic portfolios directly inside the Lemon app. The launch is powered by Alpaca, a global leader in agent-first brokerage infrastructure.
Founded in 2019 and now serving more than four million validated users across the region, Lemon built its reputation by making digital assets simple to access.1 With this launch, Lemon is extending that simplicity to global equities, giving customers access to invest in Apple, NVIDIA, or the S&P 500 from the same app they already use to save, pay, and manage their money.
In Argentina, many investors seek better ways to preserve and grow their savings.2 While crypto and digital assets have become an important part of the financial technology that people use every day, investing in global equities may remain difficult for many individuals. 3 Despite US equity holdings in Argentina increasing from US $7 billion in 2020 to approximately US$11 billion in 2025, accessing international markets still requires opening a foreign brokerage account, currency conversion costs, and navigating complex tax rules.4,5,6
"For years, Lemon has helped millions of people in Latin America access digital assets in a simple way, but we believe the industry has evolved," said Maxi Raimondi, CFO of Lemon. "Crypto is becoming the technology powering the global financial products people use every day, whether they are saving in digital dollars, receiving money from abroad, or making international payments. But we’re no longer just a crypto app. We’re building a broader financial platform designed to help people save, pay, and invest from a single place."
That value for simplicity shaped how the product was built. Rather than launching stock trading as a separate experience, Lemon set out to make investing feel like every other action inside the app.
"Our objective wasn't just to launch stock trading. It was to make investing feel as simple and intuitive as every other financial action inside Lemon," added Raimondi. "Today, anyone can invest in more than 10,000 US companies, ETFs, and thematic portfolios from as little as one dollar, using either local currency or digital dollars. People shouldn't have to understand the complexity behind the infrastructure. Whether they are buying Bitcoin, or shares of Apple or NVIDIA, the experience should feel equally simple."
Powered by Alpaca's Broker API, Lemon now offers fractional trading across a broad universe of US equities and ETFs. That infrastructure lets Lemon focus on the customer experience while Alpaca handles the execution, clearing, and custody layer needed to support brokerage operations.
The early adoption has been strong. In the last two months, Lemon customers have opened more than 80,000 investment accounts and traded over $1.9 million USD, averaging around $100,000 USD in daily volume. As Lemon continues to build toward a single platform where customers can save, pay, and invest, US equities mark an important step in removing the barriers between people and their money.
"Lemon has built one of the leading financial platforms in Latin America, and we're proud to power their expansion into US equities," said Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca. "By making US stocks as accessible as digital assets, Lemon is giving millions of Argentinians a simpler path to global markets."
