Binance, the largest digital asset platform by trading volume, serving over 300 million global users, today launched US options trading, powered by Alpaca, a global leader in agent-first brokerage infrastructure.
The options trading launch marks Binance’s next step in building a more complete trading experience for eligible users, adding ways to hedge, position, and manage risk alongside the stocks and ETFs they already hold. We recently spoke with Shunyet Jan, Head of Exchange and Trading at Binance, to better understand how options trading furthers Binance’s vision to make it easier for users to access opportunities across asset classes from one integrated platform.
Options Trading: The Next Step After US Equities
Binance has continued to add a variety of asset classes since launching US equities with Alpaca in June of this year, and quickly followed with bStocks, their tokenized US stocks offering. Options are the latest addition, complementing their existing universe with a new asset class for equity-market participation.
“Since introducing US stocks, ETFs, fractional shares, extended-hours access, and bStocks, we’ve seen strong demand for more flexible ways to access and manage exposure to US markets,” explained Jan.
With Alpaca supporting the underlying brokerage infrastructure, Binance’s options offering enables users to*:
- Trade options on supported US-listed stocks and ETFs directly in the Binance platform
- Hedge shares they already hold, or take a position on where a stock may move
- Implement a range of options strategies, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and risk controls.

“This launch adds an important new layer to our multi-asset offering,” added Jan. “Together, these products move Binance closer to a multi-asset financial super app where users can manage crypto, traditional investments, and derivatives in one familiar experience.”
Furthering the Partnership with Alpaca
For options, Binance looked for an infrastructure partner that understood both the regulatory complexity of US market access and their own focus on delivering a simple, crypto-native user experience. Binance chose to expand the partnership with Alpaca, as the previous launches established confidence in Alpaca's brokerage infrastructure across execution, clearing, and product integration.

“Alpaca has been a valuable infrastructure partner as we expand access to US market products,” said Jan. “Bringing options to users requires careful attention to disclosures, risk controls, and operational workflows, and the teams worked closely to align Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure with Binance’s product experience. Building on the foundation already established through previous US equities-related initiatives helped accelerate the path toward a more complete multi-asset offering.”

“Options place different demands on the infrastructure underneath, from account approvals to margin, exercise, and assignment,” said Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca. “As an agent-first self-clearing broker-dealer, we handle that work directly. We’re pleased to support Binance in the launch of options as they extend what their users can do with the stocks and ETFs they already own.”
Building on the Success of US Equities and bStocks
The launch of options follows user adoption of Binance's US equities and bStocks offerings.

“In the first week, assets under management in US stocks surpassed $400 million. Additionally, 40% of trades were under $100, underscoring the importance of fractional access,” said Jan. “We also saw meaningful engagement among younger users, with approximately 25% of stock users under 25, and around 70% showing holding behavior.”
bStocks has followed a similar growth path, signaling that users want traditional assets delivered through crypto-native infrastructure. “Assets under management surpassed $500 million within seven weeks of launch and quickly expanded from five tickers to more than 46 listings,” continued Jan. “Gen Z accounted for 44% of bStocks trading activity, and 41.5% of bStocks users began their traditional finance journey through tokenized securities on Binance.”
Long term, bStocks supports Binance’s vision of making real-world assets more accessible, portable and useful across both traditional and on-chain environments.
Measuring Success for the Options Launch: What Comes Next for Binance
For Binance, the success of the options launch starts with responsible adoption and broader accessibility.
“Success for us means eligible users are able to understand the product, access it through a familiar, trusted Binance experience, use it appropriately, and find value in more flexible ways to manage equity and cross-market exposure,” added Jan. “We will also look at user education and engagement, repeat usage, risk-management use cases, and how options complement activity across stocks, ETFs, and the rest of our ecosystem.”
Over time, Binance expects to expand listings and functionality based on user demand, while continuing to open access for users in supported markets and keeping education, risk disclosures, and compliance controls central to the experience.
