Alpaca Partners with Indonesia Stock Exchange to Enable Cross-Border Market Access via PALN

We have signed an agreement with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) to explore opportunities to expand cross-border access between Indonesian and global capital markets. The agreement marks another milestone in our continued expansion across Asia-Pacific and was signed by Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca, and Jeffrey Hendrik, President Director of IDX at the IDX Main Hall in Jakarta on September 1, 2026.

Partnering with Indonesia Stock Exchange

Under the agreement, Alpaca and IDX will explore a framework that would enable Indonesian securities broker members to provide their customers with access to US and other foreign securities, leveraging Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure and related execution, clearing, and custody services. This initiative will be facilitated through the Penyaluran Amanat Luar Negeri (PALN) mechanism which will allow Indonesian brokers to offer their customers access to securities traded on overseas exchanges.

Through this partnership, Indonesian retail investors will soon be able to access investment opportunities in leading global companies through securities brokers regulated by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority/Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK). The parties will also explore opportunities to facilitate access for international brokers and market participants to Indonesian capital market products and services.

“Indonesia has one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing investor communities in the world, and we believe investors should be able to access global opportunities through the financial institutions they already know and trust,” said Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca. “Our collaboration with IDX represents an important step toward connecting Indonesian financial institutions and their customers to global markets through Alpaca’s infrastructure, while bringing Indonesia’s capital markets closer to international investors.”

Jeffrey Hendrik, President Director of Indonesia Stock Exchange, said: “Through the signing of this MoU, we establish a framework to explore reciprocal capital market access across jurisdictions. This initiative provides a platform to explore pathways for our Exchange Members to access global markets, while also examining opportunities for international brokers and market participants to access Indonesia’s growing capital market.”

Jeffrey Hendrick, President Director of Indonesia Stock Exchange, and Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-Founder and CEO of Alpaca, shake hands after signing the agreement.

A Growing Opportunity in Indonesia

Indonesia has one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing investor communities in the world. The number of retail investors surpassed 30 million as of August 2026, representing the largest retail investor base in ASEAN. As participation in Indonesia’s capital markets continues to grow, the collaboration between Alpaca and IDX will explore opportunities to strengthen connectivity between Indonesian and global markets.

Alpaca’s API-based brokerage infrastructure enables financial institutions and fintech companies to integrate access to global financial markets into their own products and deliver more connected investment experiences to their customers.

The agreement deepens our presence in Indonesia, where we already work with Ajaib, Gotrade, Nanovest, PT Valbury Asia Futures, and Reku.

Strengthening Our Presence in APAC

The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region remains a strategic priority for Alpaca as we work to open financial services to everyone on the planet. Over the past year, we have deepened our regional footprint through local leadership, strategic partnerships, and infrastructure investments.

Rohit Mulani was appointed President of Alpaca Southeast Asia, where he leads regional strategy, regulatory affairs, partnerships, and expansion. David Grant joined Alpaca as CEO of Alpaca Singapore, where he leads local operations in one of the region’s key financial hubs.

Together, Rohit and David are focused on building scalable, compliant brokerage infrastructure that helps partners across the region expand access to global markets while tailoring solutions to local needs.

As we continue to expand globally, partnerships like the one with IDX, combined with strengthened regional leadership, position us to support our partners and build the infrastructure needed to power the next generation of investing platforms across APAC.
